Frequently Asked Questions

I am in network through a third party connector with the following health insurances: Aetna, Optum, Oxford, United Healthcare, and Anthem BCBS.
If I am not in-network with your insurance provider you can reach out to your insurance and ask if you have any out of network mental health benefits. They may support in reducing the cost of your sessions.
Important questions to ask your insurance provider to ensure reimbursement are:
Do I have mental health benefits?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
How many mental health sessions per calendar year does my insurance plan cover?
How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network mental health provider?
In addition, although I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Optum, Oxford, and United Healthcare your plan may not cover remote sessions fully or partially. It is best to check with your insurance provider to ensure coverage. In the event that your insurance does not cover the session your card on file will be charged for the session.

Please note that I have a 48 hour cancellation policy. If you cannot make your scheduled appointment time please let me know 48 hours in advance or else you will be charged in full for the session. Insurance does not cover missed sessions.

I am considered an out-of-network provider for couples/relationship therapy. This means that we can provide you with a verification form called a “superbill” that you can then submit to your insurance company for partial to full reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits. Payment is due at the time of service.
-
Absolutely! Your HSA, or Health Savings Account, definitely covers the cost of therapy, usually through a debit card. We accept HSA cards.

We do not keep a wait list at Alma Body Mind Therapy. If you choose to pay out of pocket for couples/relationship therapy with us, we can usually get you an appointment within 2 weeks. Many therapists in the community who accept insurance are full or have extensive wait lists.
If you pay out of pocket, you will also have more freedom in deciding how often and how long to continue your therapy. Finally, your counseling will be 100% confidential within Alma Body Mind Therapy. We are not allowed to release your therapy information (including diagnosis) to your insurance company or medical providers without your written consent. These are some of the many benefits of paying out of pocket for counseling services.

I understand the barriers that exist when seeking mental health services and for that reason I reserve some openings for lower cost clients. I am fully booked for sliding scale clients at this time.
Resource for low cost services: Open Path is a collective of therapists offering affordable services between $30 and $60 per session in an effort to make services more accessible.
Lower cost fees are assessed depending on what is most realistic for you, and depending on what I am able to offer from a business ownership perspective. If payment is the sole reason for not reaching out for counseling, I encourage you to reach out anyway and we can discuss payment options further. More often than not, I’m able to come up with an acceptable agreement for most. If not, I can certainly help to direct you in the right direction.

I believe the client is the expert of their own experience, and that the relationship between client and counselor is what is the catalyst for a meaningful, and effective time in counseling. This means that a lot of what we will be doing is exploring your experiences including sensations, thoughts, and beliefs (and whatever else might come up) in an effort to make meaning of your mental health issues. In doing so, you may begin to feel as though you are able to reach your goals, you may feel relief from whatever mental health symptoms you’re struggling with, and you will likely gain insight into yourself and your identity.

Therapy can last anywhere between a couple months and several years. It depends on the person and their goals. For longer term goals you may want to commit to a year. This is important because this type of work is challenging and requires work and commitment. Identity work is not like a scratch that heals quickly, it takes time to develop, explore, experiment, grow, and heal. It can be a beautiful life changing journey we would love to go on with you. However, if you want just try out a few sessions and that’s all you need, we can do that too.
